Day 24

While OSE interns aren’t building any machines this week, they still had plenty of work to do yesterday at Factor e Farm.

The first part of the morning was spent continuing edits to CEB Press modules. Before breaking up for lunch, the interns discussed plans for the day, also discussing how CNC Torch Table documentation should be organized.

People from two organizations stopped by Factor e Farm during the meeting.

Reporter Gordon Cook, author of The COOK Report on Internet Protocol, toured the farm, taking pictures and interviewing Founding Director Marcin Jakubowski for an article he’s writing.

Co-founders Isaac Wilder and Tyrone Greenfield of The Free Network Foundation and their intern, Spencer Liberto, also toured the farm and spoke to interns during lunch.

Isaac, who has followed OSE for years, started FNF a couple years ago with a clear goal in mind: to empower individuals and communities by making internet more accessible.

“We build a set of tools that are used to build computer networks,” Isaac said. “And we train communities and individuals on how to use those tools and have more autonomy in their communications.”

In the afternoon the interns continued much of the same work as yesterday.

Brenna Fitzpatrick, Guillaume Coudray, Sam Turner, Clair Sprenger, Curtis Calkins , Victor Macul and Marcin installed more soffit on the north, east and west sides of the Hab Lab.

Moriah Baltz, Juan Bennazar, Graham Coffman and Emily Dixon fixed up the Solar Cabin’s interior, installing OSB on the floors, walls and ceiling. New interns will probably be moving into those rooms next week.

Gabriel Elkind, Stephen Whiting and Anthony Douglas, compiled all the documentation Anthony has made on the CNC Torch Table for future use.
